Out to Lunch Presents Etson is producer David Levy’s new electronic-world music album with Southeast Asian artist Etson Caminha. The eight tracks are a fusion of electronic world, reggae, hip hop, and funk sung in a unique language developed specifically for the release. Levy had been traveling internationally to discover and produce musicians living in refugee camps and post-conflict countries for his last project, The World United in Song (PeaceTones), when he discovered Etson. Etson hails from the small island of Timor-Leste (East Timor), where he grew up consumed by his country’s fight for independence. Timor-Leste became an independent nation in 2002, at last providing the freedom for Etson to create, and, with Levy, Out to Lunch Presents Etson has delivered an album of infectious grooves that span world music, reggae, hiphop, and funk.
Drop Of A Hat (Jet Boot Jack Remix) features UK House DJ extraordinaire Jet Boot Jack (The Chemical Brothers, DJ Yoda, Sir Norman Jay) and powerful, soulful vocal harmonies delivered by Alex Harris. Funky basslines and deep-house grooves will no doubt keep you dancing. The Village Voice has hailed NYC’s Out to Lunch as “ambitious and funky,” while Billboard Magazine calls them “a distinctive brand of funk…expanding the range of the listener’s experience.”
Uptown 6: New York ElectroSoul has hit the streets. And the streets of New York are where it emerged. Busking on a subway platform one afternoon the then unknown vocalist Damon C. Scott was discovered by David Levy. That was back then, in 2007 – a lot has changed.
Damon and David have worked together ever since. Writing songs, playing shows, and recording material, which is premiered in their first official release together, Uptown 6. Damon C. Scott is now best known for being the voice behind the track Look Right Through, which took the UK by storm, topping the charts in 2013. The hook up for this track was made through David, and now Damon is returning the favour.
